About the event

We welcome 2,000 participants to Malmö: The majority from Sweden, but also specially invited athletes from 25 international Special Olympics programs.

The year 2026 is “The Year of Parasport” in Malmö, and we want to celebrate it with you.

The Special Olympics Sweden Invitational Games 2026 will be the largest sporting event for people with intellectual disabilities ever held in Sweden.

Friday 4 September

Everyone in Malmö is invited to the grand opening ceremony in Folkets Park on Friday, September 4!

The preliminary start time is 20:00.

We promise a spectacular opening with music, dance, and a festive atmosphere for all.

We will offer five Healthy Athletes disciplines during the games, open for particpants to visit during Friday and Saturday.
